replacement screw elements, kneading blocks, screw shafts and barrels for co-rotating twin-screw extruders
replacement screw elements, kneading blocks, screw shafts and barrels for co-rotating twin-screw extruders
Whether a replacement screw element fits is decided by its dimensions and geometry, not simply by the name on the extruder. Outside diameter, screw centre distance, flight lead, element length, shaft spline and profile geometry all influence compatibility. Two machines may use a similar screw design but still require different replacement parts.
EXTRUTEX manufactures replacement screw elements, kneading blocks, mixing elements, screw shafts, barrel sections and barrel liners for co-rotating parallel twin-screw extruders. We supply parts for Chinese-built and international machine platforms, including selected models from KY, Jwell, Cenmen, Jieya, Chuangbo, Meizhilong, Useon, Kerke, Coperion, KraussMaffei Berstorff, Leistritz, JSW, Shibaura Machine, CPM, ENTEK, Maris and other manufacturers.
Parts are manufactured against confirmed OEM dimensions, technical drawings or approved physical samples. Depending on the machine, EXTRUTEX can supply individual conveying elements, kneading blocks, complete screw sets, shafts, barrel sections and wear-resistant components.

The following directory covers established manufacturers of co-rotating twin-screw extruders used in polymer compounding, masterbatch production, recycling, engineering plastics, chemicals, food processing and laboratory development.
It is a manufacturer and machine-platform directory, not a statement that every model is interchangeable or that every brand is held in stock. Some companies have several machine families, including counter-rotating, single-screw and specialist food-processing equipment. EXTRUTEX checks the exact machine configuration before confirming a replacement part.
Depending on the application, further machine names may appear in laboratory extrusion, food and feed processing, pharmaceutical extrusion and specialist compounding markets. These include APV, Baker Perkins, Bühler, Clextral, GEA, Wenger, Brabender, Thermo Fisher / Haake, Labtech and other regional equipment suppliers.
Not every machine in these manufacturers' catalogues is a co-rotating polymer compounding extruder. For this reason, EXTRUTEX treats these as model-specific enquiries rather than assuming a common screw-element design.
KraussMaffei Berstorff machines include co-rotating twin-screw platforms with manufacturer-specific screw geometry. The ZE and ZE UT ranges require components matched to their original profile, shaft connection, centre distance and pitch.
EXTRUTEX can assess replacement conveying elements, kneading blocks, mixing elements, screw shafts and barrel components for confirmed Berstorff models.
Berstorff elements should not be assumed interchangeable with Coperion ZSK elements. Similar appearance or a shared co-rotating principle does not establish dimensional compatibility. Each part must be checked against the relevant machine drawing or sample.
EXTRUTEX can review replacement-part requirements for other established international twin-screw platforms. The machine model, screw size, shaft connection and element position are needed to establish the correct geometry.
Leistritz ZSE machines use modular co-rotating screw assemblies. Replacement parts may include conveying elements, kneading blocks, mixing elements, shafts and barrel sections. The exact ZSE series and configuration must be identified before production.
Japan Steel Works manufactures co-rotating twin-screw extrusion systems for compounding and other demanding processes. EXTRUTEX can assess TEX replacement elements and shaft components from drawings, part numbers or physical samples.
Shibaura Machine is the current company name associated with the former Toshiba Machine identity. Older machine documentation may still use Toshiba branding. When requesting replacement TEM components, provide the original machine nameplate, model and element identification so that the correct generation and dimensions can be checked.
Chinese-built co-rotating twin-screw extruders are widely used in polymer compounding, colour masterbatch, filler masterbatch, cable compounds, engineering plastics, recycling and modified polymer production. EXTRUTEX supplies replacement screw elements and related components for selected Chinese machine platforms.
Common machine names include KY, Jieya, Chuangbo, Cenmen, Meizhilong, Jwell, Useon, Kerke, Cowin, XINDA and Nanjing Haisi. Common replacement items may be available from stock, depending on the screw diameter, profile, material and machine generation.
KY machines are associated with co-rotating twin-screw compounding equipment. EXTRUTEX can assess conveying elements, kneading blocks, mixing elements, shafts and barrel sections for confirmed KY models. A ZSK-type profile reference is not sufficient by itself to confirm compatibility; shaft spline, centre distance and element dimensions must also match.
Jwell manufactures different extrusion systems for pipe, profile, sheet, recycling and compounding applications. Spare parts can differ between machine families, even when the nominal screw diameter is similar. Provide the exact machine model and element position so that EXTRUTEX can check the correct flight lead, shaft connection and profile.
Cenmen machines are used in compounding and masterbatch production. EXTRUTEX can supply conveying elements, kneading blocks, shafts and barrel sections after confirming the bore centres, shaft dimensions and screw geometry. A model number alone may not identify every production revision.
Jieya manufactures co-rotating twin-screw equipment for compounding and related polymer-processing applications. EXTRUTEX can assess replacement elements, kneading blocks, shafts, barrel sections and liners. Availability depends on the specific machine size and component specification.
Chuangbo machines are used in colour masterbatch and filled-compound production. Abrasive materials such as calcium carbonate, talc and glass fibre can accelerate wear on screw flights and barrel surfaces. EXTRUTEX can recommend suitable material options after reviewing the compound formulation and operating conditions.
EXTRUTEX can assess replacement screw elements, shafts and barrel sections for Meizhilong machines used in compounding, sheet, board and recycling applications. Worn original components can be measured when the original OEM drawing is unavailable.
Useon supplies co-rotating twin-screw compounding platforms, including U+, SAT and EC series machines. EXTRUTEX can review conveying elements, kneading blocks, mixing elements, shafts and barrel components against the exact machine model and drawing.
Kerke machines are used in compounding and masterbatch applications. Replacement elements, kneading blocks, barrel liners and shafts can be assessed from the machine model, part number or physical sample. Dimensional inspection can be provided for each production batch.
Cowin offers co-rotating twin-screw equipment, including CHT series machines. EXTRUTEX can assess screw elements, kneading blocks, shafts and barrel sections according to the machine's original dimensions. The exact CHT model and screw configuration are required before confirming fit.
XINDA manufactures modular co-rotating twin-screw extruders, including PSHJ and SHJ platforms. Its screw and barrel systems use configurable processing elements. EXTRUTEX can assess replacement elements and barrel components when the machine model, shaft details and element arrangement are available.
Conveying elements move material along the screw channel. Their pitch, flight depth, length and orientation affect conveying capacity, filling behaviour and residence time. Replacement elements must reproduce the intended geometry and shaft connection.
Kneading blocks are assembled from discs with defined thicknesses and stagger angles. They are used for melting, dispersive mixing, distributive mixing and compound homogenisation. EXTRUTEX can manufacture replacement blocks to the required disc arrangement and dimensions.
Mixing elements are designed to distribute additives, improve material uniformity and support specific processing tasks. Their geometry varies between machine families and process configurations.
Reverse elements and restrictive conveying components can increase filling and mixing intensity by changing the material flow. Their geometry and position are important to the process, so replacement parts should follow the original screw configuration.
Screw shafts transfer torque from the gearbox to the modular screw elements. The spline or other coupling geometry, shaft length, root dimensions and fit are critical. EXTRUTEX can manufacture replacement shafts to confirmed drawings or approved samples.
Barrel sections contain the screw channels and establish the working clearance around the screw elements. EXTRUTEX can assess closed barrels, open barrels, vent barrels, feed sections and replaceable liners according to the original machine design.
Material selection depends on the polymer, filler loading, process temperature, corrosion exposure, screw speed and required service life. A material suitable for an unfilled polymer may not be appropriate for glass-fibre or mineral-filled compounds.
| Material / treatment | Typical consideration |
|---|---|
| PM-HIP 1.2379 | Powder-metallurgy material option for demanding wear applications, subject to confirmed grade specification. |
| PM-HIP 1.2380 | Powder-metallurgy material option for selected screw-element applications, subject to specification. |
| 38CrMoAlA nitrided steel | Nitrided steel option for screw elements and components requiring a hardened surface. |
| Other wear-resistant grades | Selected according to abrasion, corrosion, temperature and operating conditions. |
Material selection should be confirmed against the application and the original component requirements. The grade name alone does not define the complete heat-treatment condition, hardness, case depth or final service performance.
Before production, EXTRUTEX checks the relevant mechanical dimensions and screw geometry. This helps prevent the common mistake of manufacturing a part based only on the machine brand or nominal screw diameter.
| Measurement | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Outside diameter | Determines the screw flight envelope and working clearance. |
| Centre distance | Defines the relative position of the two screw axes. |
| Flight lead and pitch | Influences conveying geometry and the relationship between adjacent elements. |
| Shaft spline | Determines whether the element can mount correctly on the shaft. |
| Element length | Ensures the component occupies the correct axial position. |
| Profile geometry | Confirms the screw profile and intermeshing relationship. |
| Barrel bore dimensions | Establishes the correct barrel and liner geometry and clearance. |
An OEM drawing is useful, but it is not the only way to identify a replacement screw element. EXTRUTEX can inspect a physical sample and reconstruct its dimensions when the original drawing or part number is unavailable.
For a worn component, the inspection may include:
Severely worn parts may no longer retain their original dimensions. In such cases, a shaft drawing, an unworn neighbouring element, a matching screw assembly or the barrel drawing can help establish the correct geometry. EXTRUTEX will identify any dimensions that require confirmation before manufacturing.
Replacement components need to fit the existing screw assembly and operate within the required mechanical clearances. EXTRUTEX applies dimensional inspection to the agreed production specifications.
The inspection report can be prepared around the dimensions agreed before production. If a customer has an OEM drawing with defined tolerances, those tolerances should be supplied with the enquiry.
EXTRUTEX can supply individual components or larger replacement packages. The right purchasing approach depends on the condition of the screw assembly and the maintenance schedule.
| Supply option | Typical requirement |
|---|---|
| Single element | Replacement of one damaged or worn conveying or mixing component. |
| Kneading block set | Replacement of a complete kneading section with the specified disc arrangement. |
| Matched screw set | Replacement of the configured elements on both shafts. |
| Screw shafts | Replacement of damaged or worn drive shafts. |
| Barrel sections | Replacement of worn, damaged or process-specific barrel modules. |
| Complete screw and barrel package | Planned overhaul or larger maintenance project. |
For an initial technical assessment, send the machine model, element position and either the OEM part number or a photograph of the original component with a ruler or scale. More detailed drawings help shorten the confirmation process.
If the original part is too worn to measure reliably, provide the shaft drawing, adjacent screw elements or barrel bore dimensions. EXTRUTEX can advise which additional measurements are needed.
Not automatically. Berstorff and Coperion use different machine platforms and may have different screw profiles, shaft connections, centre distances and element dimensions. Each component must be checked against the exact machine drawing or original sample.
Yes, in many cases. Send the worn element with clear photographs and a scale. If available, also send the shaft drawing, adjacent elements or barrel dimensions. The amount of wear will determine whether the original component can be measured accurately enough for reverse engineering.
Both. EXTRUTEX can supply individual conveying elements, kneading blocks and mixing components, as well as matched screw sets, shafts and barrel sections.
Yes. EXTRUTEX can assess parts for selected KY, Jieya, Chuangbo, Cenmen, Meizhilong, Jwell, Useon, Kerke, Cowin, XINDA and other Chinese machine platforms. Common components may be available from stock, subject to model and dimensional confirmation.
Yes, provided there is enough information to establish the original dimensions. Send the machine model and element position, or a physical sample with photographs and a scale. Additional shaft or barrel measurements may be required.
EXTRUTEX can review Leistritz ZSE replacement-part enquiries. The exact machine series, screw diameter, shaft connection, element position and original dimensions must be confirmed before manufacturing.
Yes, EXTRUTEX can assess replacement-part requirements for these platforms. Please provide the exact machine model and the available part drawing, part number or sample. Legacy Toshiba documentation should also be included when applicable.
They are different screw-profile designs. Their flight depth, channel geometry, intermeshing relationship and processing characteristics can differ. The profile must be matched to the original machine design. Parts should not be mixed based only on a similar appearance or nominal screw diameter.
Yes. EXTRUTEX can manufacture kneading blocks to the specified disc thickness, stagger angle, outside diameter, bore and shaft connection. Send the original drawing or a suitable sample.
Yes. EXTRUTEX can assess closed barrels, open barrels, vent barrels, feed sections and replaceable liners. The bore geometry, centre distance, barrel length, connection dimensions and material requirements must be confirmed.
Material selection depends on filler loading, particle characteristics, process temperature, corrosion exposure and operating conditions. Provide the compound formulation or application details so that the material and treatment can be evaluated for the specific component.
The minimum order is one piece. Customers can order an individual replacement element, a kneading block or a larger set.
Some standard components for Chinese-built machines may be available from stock. Imported-machine replacement parts typically require around 30–45 days after the material is available and the drawings or samples have been confirmed. The actual schedule is confirmed with the quotation.
Mixing may be possible when the replacement part has been manufactured to the correct dimensions and profile. The complete screw arrangement, element sequence, axial position and process requirements should be checked before installation.
Yes. EXTRUTEX can provide a CMM dimensional inspection report for each production batch according to the agreed inspection requirements. Additional material and heat-treatment documentation can be discussed before ordering.
